Nmaachihna strives to replicate the Delaware nation story

Nmaachihna means “We are returning home” in the Lunaape language of the Delaware nation, and it’s the name given to a new tourist site at Moraviantown that will be open to the public on June 18.

Located at 14921 River Line, just south of the Thames River between Thamesville and Bothwell, the site replicates the experience of the Delaware nation, a First Nation community that settled in Chatham-Kent in 1792, and then moved south of the Thames River following the Battle of the Thames in 1813.
